More 25th Anniversary Joes Revealed at San Diego Comic Con
TNI and Figures.com released some pics from the San Diego Comic Con, showing some of the upcoming 25th Anniversary GIJoe figures. The next batch of figures will include Firefly, Zartan, Serpentor, Cobra Red Ninja, Shipwreck, Buzzer, Lady Jaye, Beachhead, as well as a 5-pack Cobra squad that has some re-colors, notably the black-suited Cobra Commander.
I’m not sure why they decided to change Serpentor to look more modern, but rumors around various GIJoe forums are claiming that a new version will come out that fully captures the classic look. Hopefully these rumors are true because that futuristic helmet he’s got on at the Comic Con looks ridiculous.
Cobra Red Ninja certainly surprised a lot of people. Even though he’s basically a repaint of Storm Shadow, save for a new head, the red color makes it worthwhile.
Unfortunately Zartan wasn’t painted, but the mold looks totally bad ass and he’s definitely the most anticipated figure of the entire collection.
Firefly is pretty much dead-on. For some reason though, it looks like the submachine gun he’s holding is an old German WWII MP-40. What the heck?
Lady Jaye’s face needs a repaint and Shipwreck looks kind of odd, but then again, you can’t do much with a figure that’s a sailor.
Beachhead looks awesome and I like the fact that he comes with both a submachine gun and a crossbow (a non-obvious homage to the classic figure that had a static crossbow molded onto his backpack).
I’m not sure why they made Buzzer’s Chainsaw look completely ridiculous with the fire-paint graffiti, but other than that, he looks great.
Overall, Hasbro’s definitely on a roll with their 25th Anniversary set and I can’t wait to get my hands on them all.
